Rice Husks to Renewable Energy: La Gloria's Pioneering an ORC Biomass Power Plant

With the support of the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM), we're proud to announce the recent operational launch of La Gloria’s 3.4 MW biomass power plant. This collaboration is a leap forward in sustainable energy, leveraging rice husk from local rice producers to power communities while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Steering toward cleaner air, the plant addresses a critical environmental issue by preventing the air pollution traditionally associated with the open burning of agricultural residues or landfill emissions. The adoption of Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology requires less water for operation and makes a significant contribution in anticipation of low rainfall scenarios.

The advantages of ORC technology are manifold, not just providing renewable energy generation but also environmental stewardship and resource conservation. ORC's efficiency and lower water usage, plus organic waste management, set a precedent for future projects. Facilitated by the JCM, it highlights the critical role of international cooperation in achieving sustainable solutions.

Congratulations to Guido Rietta, La Gloria, Uniconfort, Turboden, Cascada, and Rho in bringing this project to life. It stands as a symbol of innovation, resilience, and commitment to finding sustainable solutions for energy generation.
